Jim DouglasI'm a life long resident of the area.....growing up in Red Oak, IL, a graduate of Orangeville High School, and a 31 year veteran of radio in the region. Music has always been a part of my life. I started out by directing the Lawrence Welk Show from my playpen in my younger days. After taking a few years of piano and organ lessons, I played piano for my church while in high school. I grew up listening to WLS and the local station, WACI radio, where I would "hang out" at the station after work. After high school, I attended a broadcast school in Milwaukee. Upon graduation, I got my start in radio at the "Little Trailer in the Prairie" just outside of Freeport...the same station where I used to "hang out." Since then, I've moved into a real building, doing mornings on Hit Radio Q102 and afternoons on the Big Easy 93.7. I spent much of my hard earned money buying those little black things you might remember as 45 rpm records. Every Friday afternoon on the Big Easy 93.7, I get to play some of those records during a Forgotten 45 Friday. I play hits of the 70's and 80's that radio used to play, but you never hear any more. |
